Therapeutic Philosophy

Doug believes that each individual is precious and has a meaningful life to live out. This is true at both a personal level and at a relational level with regards to one’s family, friends, God and in the community.

However, he recognizes there are times when one may feel lost, incomplete, discouraged or disconnected in life. This is when Doug offers a safe place to share and reflect about one’s hopes, relationships, hurts and challenges. Then with affirmation, encouragement, and even a new perspective and new “tools,” a person can move forward in life in a fulfilling way.

History

Doug has had over 30 years of practical experience helping others. In addition to his ongoing outpatient work, he has worked in hospital and treatment settings, served locally as a Care and Counseling Pastor in a large church, taught at the college level and has consulted with numerous other non-profits and business organizations.  He has lived in the west metro Twin Cities for twenty-five years, has been married for over 38 years, and is the father of three adult children and has one granddaughter.
